Now connect your iPhone or iPad to the PC or Mac and once iTunes has detected your phone or tablet, it will display a message saying the update is available. Unfortunately, if you have an earlier iPhone, iPad or iPod you can’t upgrade to iOS 12.
Apple says the operating system is compatible with the iPhone 5S or later, any model of iPad Air or iPad Pro, the 5th generation iPad, the iPad mini 2 and later or the 6th generation of the iPod touch.
